Weasel-Tech. High Octane Cybernetic Warfare

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A volley of rockets to the right while you dodge left and 2 enemy walkers are left scattered across the country side. All is going well until a plasma beam knocks out the targeting pod. Gotta deal with the enemy elite on manual

* * * * *

Welcome to Weasel-Tech, a solo campaign game of giant anime robot action.

Lead your Strike Force against the enemy forces, engaging swarms of enemy mecha and dangerous elites in deadly combat. Built from the ground up for fast-moving warfare, the features include:

*Solo game play from the ground up. All you need is some miniatures and you can start your own game play.

*People wishing to play with friends can use the Dueling mechanics to face off against each other or can take a pilot each and help each other against the enemy army.

*Full campaign game including random events, operational progress and character progression.

*Your pilots both gain in experience and skill but so does the command staff guiding you on your missions.

*Fast playing combat rules inspired by anime mecha shows and comics. No plodding robots here.

*Undertake randomly generated missions with random events and side objectives.

*Call down reinforcements, supporting fire or other HQ support during battles.

*Outfit your mechs with weapons and equipment researched during the campaign.

*Defeated villains may return to haunt you with upgraded weapons and equipment.

*Includes a full Social System, allowing you to follow your pilots and crew as they make friends, get in fights or even fall in love.

*Usable with any mech figures you have available (or for that matter many power armor miniatures).

* * * * *

This is a complete game, not a supplement, and does not require any other product to use.

While mechanics have similarities to other of my games like Five Parsecs From Home or Five Men in Normandy the game system is brand new and written specifically for the topic.

* * * * *

Please note that the game is being released early, to take advantage of wider playtesting and feedback from the community. This means that game balance will almost certainly require adjustment. Advice is included for how to tweak things but expect that difficulty, enemy toughness and variety and so forth will be tweaked in forthcoming updates.

Buyers should be aware that printing out copies may become quickly outdated in the first few weeks after release. A Change log is included in the back of the rulebook to verify changes.

Could tanks and VTOLs work as swarm units? Just for some variation.

I didnt get notified of this, I am so sorry. You can yeah. Just use the rules as is. Its actually an explicit suggestion in the most recent update.

Would this ruleset work well enough with Battletech style mechs or is it definitely more suited to the swords and shields wielding Gundam stuff?

On our discord, a lot of folks are using battletech mecha for their mechs, so no problem at all. The "feel" is more about fast movement than specific weapons and the weapon types should map unto BT models well enough

Hey sorry, I didn't get a notification for this so I missed it :(

Macross style mecha is 100% intended. Im not sure about the timeframe for the expansion, I originally wanted to have some time to iron out balance questions in the core rules.

Hello, would the mechanics be adaptable to simulate individual power armor combat (using 28mm minis)?

Not 40k style but rather Edge of tomorrow (the manga)

Thanks in advance
Cheers!

I suspect so. Youd have to fiddle with the damage tables a little bit, but it should be workable i think. Movement is pretty agile, so itd fit small, mobile suits pretty well.

Looks good, feels good. Constant updates are flowing and discussion is going on over on the Facebook Forums for 5 parsecs and Weasel Tech. Ivan can't seem to stop coming up with thought provoking gaming goodness. Get this game.

FYI, if you bought that Robotech kickstarter, this is perfect for those minis. PERFECT!

0.92 is the most up to date version. If you have an earlier download, go get your file again. It includes a bunch of diagrams to help visual learners with weapon systems, targeting and movement.

Is this the best place for discussions about the game? Do you have a forum where we can chat, share Battle reports/ideas/painted forces? EDIT. NVM, Just joined the Discord and Fan Facebook page.

Not a problem in itself, but you may struggle to find buildings that are tall enough? If you do have suitable terrain, go for it though. Theres so much cool Gundam kit available.

Could you post a preview?
Also, how many miniatures per side?

Is the preview not working? I'll have a look.

You need 3 figures for the player side. The enemy depends. If you want to represent everything accurately, 10-12 figures but you can use a single figure for swarms with a die next to them to keep track.

So you could get by with 4-5 enemy figures if you want.

That's tricky. Three for the player side. But the enemies have a spawning mechanic that means that if you take too long (or are just unlucky) you can get quite a few enemies. You can start with up to I think 5 enemy radar "blips", with more coming in from the sides over time. But if you can avoid approaching them all at once, or can kill them quickly, I think 10 enemies might keep you in business at first. Of course, later you might want to expand your collection to fill out the swarms or to reflect different kinds of enemies or unique Villains or the like.

(I reply too slowly.)

The rules say the Pilots and Staff start at level 0, but the XP thresholds on page 55 do not show the values needed for reaching Level 1.

yeah, Im a dork. It should be 1 for pilots. For staff, the levels are all 1 higher than they should, so level 1 should be 10xp. I'll have an update tonight

Thank you for the swift reply! One other inconsistency I've noticed: result 15-16 on the table on page 62 refers to the "Mecha Life table", but there's no such table. Presumably this is meant to be a random encounter between two characters using the Social System?

Yeah, it was an earlier version of what became the Social System and i forgot to ctrl f for all instances of the original term.

There was some confusion about the correct file. If you got a file with garbled visuals at the end of the file, make sure to download the book again. These problems have been corrected in the current upload.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
